Get Your Free Copy Of
The IndieAuthor Guide!

The publishing industry is now run like the movie business, with publishers only interested in a narrow selection of likely blockbusters. A lot of quality work never finds its way to readers, but at last, with eBooks, Print On Demand and the power of Web 2.0, authors and micro-publishers have the means to bypass mainstream publishing altogether and reach a readership that may seem modest by big publishers' standards, but is large enough to keep an individual author writing.

Now authors can publish their own work and go indie, just as filmmakers and musicians have done before them. Better still, indie authors can produce quality publications on a shoestring and do it "Green" with POD and eBooks, avoiding the waste and carbon costs of manufacturing minimum print runs and shipping them out to warehouses all over the world.

The IndieAuthor Guide takes you through every stage of the process, including illustrated, detailed, step-by-step instructions in its comprehensive chapters.

The book retails for $24 in hard copy and $9.99 in Kindle edition at Amazon, but on this page you can get it for free!

By downloading your free copy of The IndieAuthor Guide, you agree to the following terms and conditions of use:

You are downloading this free copy of The IndieAuthor Guide for your own personal use only. The IndieAuthor Guide is copyrighted material; it cannot be duplicated or redistributed in whole or in part without the express, written consent of the author, April L. Hamilton.

Its content cannot be used, in whole or in part, for any commercial purpose without the express, written consent of the author, April L. Hamilton.

The book is provided in the form of a downloadable .zip file; the user is responsible for providing his or her own unzip utility. Note that most computers already have an unzip utility built into the operating system, but if your computer does not, you can download a free evaluation copy of the winzip utility here.

the download file contains only image files and .htm files; it does not contain any executable programs or scripts, and has been scanned for malicious code (i.e., viruses or trojans) in its current location. However, it is always advisable to scan any downloaded file for viruses before opening it on your own computer.

no special software is required to view the book, all you need is a web browser (i.e., Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, Chrome, etc.). Both PC and Mac users are welcome.

To download and use the book, follow these directions:

1. DOWNLOAD: Click on the picture of the book cover displayed at the bottom of these directions. When prompted, save the .zip file to your desired location on your computer's hard drive and if you wish, scan the downloaded file for viruses.

2. UNZIP THE FILE: Locate the zipped folder you downloaded in step 1. Right-click on it and select "Extract All" from the drop-down menu of options. When prompted, accept the default location for the files to be extracted (should be the same file folder where you saved the zipped file in step 1). Your computer will extract all the files from the zip file into a new folder with the same name as the zip file.

3. OPEN THE BOOK: In the new folder, locate the file called IndieAuthorGuideCompleteForDTP.htm and double-click on it to open the book in your default browser. If you wish, once the book is open in your browser you can set a bookmark to it or save it to your favorites so it will be easier to locate in the future.

Enjoy, and if you like the book, please consider entering a positive Amazon review for it or telling your writer friends about it. Note that all files in the folder must be kept together, just as they were when you unzipped the file. Do not attempt to reorganize the content of the folder by placing image files in a subfolder, and if you elect to move the book to a different location on your computer, you must move the entire folder.
